Nashville 1-12 Question for Mike Brown

Post by Jerry Hayes R.I.P. »

Hey Mike, I have two NV 1-12 amps and really like them a bunch! I use both for steel but when I'm doing a guitar only gig I've been using one of these little jewels and it sounds great. When I do a steel and lead gig I've been bringing another amp for guitar in addition to these. My question is this.... I know that I can go from the pre amp out of the main steel amp to the input in the back of the other and only the master volume of that 2nd amp is used. Is it possible to plug an electric guitar into the regular input in the front of the 2nd amp and EQ it for guitar or will that do something to the sound of the steel. I'd experiment with it but I'm afraid to plug something in without knowing whether it'll damage the amp or not. If this works the scenario would be steel going through both amps and lead guitar only to one amp...JH in Va.

Jerry, if you connect something, e.g. the Preamp Out of one amp into the Power Amp in on the 2nd amp, you have disabled the preamp/eq in the 2n amp. Plugging a guitar into the 2nd amp won't work unless you remove the cord from the Power Amp in jack.

This is the way most (actually all that I've seen) Peavey amps are wired.

You could set the second amp up for guitar, and have a footswitch that would cut the signal to the power amp in on the second amp, if Jack is correct in what he says (and he usually is Image )

Aargh!!
I've goofed.

Jack's right, you have to physically remove the jack from the 'power amp in' input
