I love the strobe, but I've found that I use its basic tuning capabilities, as opposed to the "built-in" option of SE9, as, to my ears, it's not in tune with most of my pedal/lever movements when I use that steel tuning option -- but that could be due to my GFI keyless and having decent cabinet drop (but I don't know the science behind the Peterson II -- maybe it's not to defeat cabinet drop?).
[This message was edited by Al Terhune on 22 October 2005 at 02:15 PM.]

I've had one for over a year.
I don't use the built in steel guitar settings. I've programmed in my settings into the two programmable memories.
The built in settings are not for all guitars. I've tried them, and along with I tune to "zero", not plus 10 cents, my guitar is not in tune with itself with the built in settings.
But, having the pre-programmed settings makes it much faster and more consistently accurate when tuning.

One thing cool about the VS-II is that it will measure the difference between straight up, and what you percieve to be in tune, so you can easily program your own personal tuning for your guitar. The Stobo stomp model is a neat tuner, but to program your own personal tuning, you have to trial and error your self through---pain in the rear. It will NOT measure the differences. And the parameters are not wide enough. It only goes plus or minus 15 cents. But again, it is not designed for steel guitar.
