Parts for a Webb Amplifier

Looking for some parts for a Webb Amplifier. Such as Knobs,Tolex,electrical parts replacemebt etc. Where can i find these parts. Thanks

Sonny, if you find a source for those white skirted knobs, please let us know. That seems to be the only part that is hard to replace for the Webb. Most of the Webb guts are pretty standard.

Anybody know where he bought the capacitors , resisters. Etc. I would like to know his parts supplier!

Sonny, be the unselfish type of guy Brad is, he has provided a great deal of info on all types of electronics. Here is but one posting he made previously in reference to Webb amps. Hope this helps.

The Webb didn't necessarily have the same supplier over the years. I've seen a number of them and the parts brands varied from year to year, but the values all stayed the same. That design was pretty untouched since it's inception. The parts list on my page will give you equivalent or better quality parts. Jim Webb said he wanted a design that could be easily serviced, and it is. You really shouldn't need resistors, but you may want fresh electrolytic caps and maybe replace the ceramic tone caps for polypropylene film types.

Thank you Sonny for creating this post for me. I just purchased the used Webb that Sonny started this thread with. It is serial number 1249. Im not sure of its age, possible an 80's???. I am very excited to pick it up and will make a project of restoring it. I have 2 broken knobs on the amp and would like to replace them. I'll still keep looking. Brad, thank you so much for the info on your web site as far as identifying and replacement of the Capacitors, as well as part number and vendor purchasing information. I am assuming that the schematic with the red is the preamp section, and the blue is the power amp section. I think I may also teach myself how to re-tolex a cabinet using this amp. It would be a good learning experience.

Brad, Jim Webb told me that he made the knob with the skirt. He bought the knob and added the skirt to the knob. He also told me there was a period of time when he had run out of knobs that he used a different type but he did not describe that type to me. I have a Webb that has some knobs that I thought probably came from radio shack that I asked Jim about replacing. He told me to send one to him and he would tell me if it was the type he used for a while but I never got around to sending it.

Jerry. That would explain it. I've searched and searched the world of control knobs and have never seen that Webb knob anywhere. I wonder if he left us with a box of those things somewhere in his shop...

I have it from one of the Webb workers that there is a legal controversy involving one of Jim Webbs relatives. I have been told that once the legalities of inheritance have been setteled Webb should be back in business within the next year. I hope so because they are the best sounding steel amp I ever heard.

Sonny, Do yourself a favor and go with the parts list that Brad has researched & put together for the upgraded caps mod etc on the Webb. I have the kit, just haven't had time to do the job. They are the exact specs Webb calls for but an upgraded version, thus not changing the highly sought after WEBB sound.
