Help with Sho-Bud Compactra-100 amp
First, why is it called 'Compactra'? This amp
is almost as big as my refrigerator. What power tubes does it use? It has 7027A's in it
right now, and I'm not sure if those are the original.
This amp belongs to a friend who wanted me to
try it out, and get my opinion. I think this amp sounds great! Lots of high mids. I just wish it wasn't so big.
Thanks

Gary,
Don't know why they picked "Compactra" for a name. Guess it was just a name that sounded "cool" at the time. They had 2 models, that I know of,a "Compactra 75",& a "100". I guess, they were supposed to represent the power output, but probably not the "rms".
If I recall correctly, the power tubes were "6L6's",or "5881's",but don't quote me on that.
Someone w/ more knowledge of "tube" electronics can verify that for you. Hope this helps you some.
