crackling noise

Post by Rick Vizzi »

Bought a 65 Twin Reverb 15, shipped to a store after I ordered it. Trying it out at the store I noticed a slight crackling noise, just barely perceptable, so I didn't really think much of it. But when I got it home, it was more noticable apparently because of the lack of background noise with people playing guitars, etc. at the store.
Well, it has something to do with the reverb. With nothing plugged in, and all knobs down to "1", the noise is still there. Barely noticable with reverb at minimum ("1"). It gets louder as the reverb knob is turned up. I tried pulling out the tube and putting it back in, and unplugging and plugging in the RCA plugs from the tank, nothing helped. I'm taking it back to the store to have them look at it, but I thought I would get some input from any of you who might know what it is exactly. Thanks!

Go over to the Fender Discussion Page forum and ask your question in the "Amp Mods, Repairs and Projects" section.

You'll get the answer you need.

(Then drop that amp back in the dealer's lap!)

I've gotten a lot of help there recently on some problems I was having with a Twin Reverb. Very good info there.
