Boss SE 50

Who's got some good settings for the SE 50 they'd be willing to share that they've already tweaked & found suitable for steel? I would like to get the delay/reverb that my RV-3 has provided as a main patch for each effects program. Then add in a mellow blues OD/distortion and a heavier overdrive/crunch. Phaser, organ, etc. would be cool too!

Kevin pick your favorite number. Turn to that patch, go into the edit mode and turn off all of the effects.

Turn on the delay, set to your liking, turn on the reverb and set to your liking. Save and rename this patch. (I use patch 75 and call it Emmons.)

Now save this same patch to numbers above and below this number. Go into an adjacent patch and add more reverb, save and name it.

Do the same for phasing and or organ and or distortion.

You should now have several patches that have a basic sound you like with the addition of another effect added to each one.

Mine looks like this: 73 Envelope, 74 Dobro, 75 Emmons, 76 Emmons Reverb, 77 Pitch shift, 77 Rotory Speaker.

Great! Thanks for the reply Larry. I was using the Boss ME-8 which I was pretty familiar with, didn't have much time to mess with the SE 50 so far and is why I sold the goldface 2112. Any other patches you'd like to share? I was thinking of trying the GS 10 but as usual too little time!

No matter what effects unit you have, you must devote time to it. They are made for guitar players not steelers. I know it can be hard to find time, but get up about 2 in the morning and just go out there and do it.

I have moved up to a Boss VF-1 so must continue to listen to it and learn what makes it tick.
