Wade - Look near the top of the page under the Add A Reply button and you will find a search function. Do a search for Evans FET-500 and you should find lots of discussions. I don't believe you will find too many "cons" and lots of "pros". A few folks do prefer the High Voltage model over the Low Voltage model. Do you have the serial number of the amp?

I bought a head version of the Evans FET500LV recently. The only speaker I have tried it with so far is a 1203-4 Black Widow. It sounds really good with that one. I have some other speakers that I will try it with when I get a "round-to-it".

Wade, on my bathroom scales the 500 LV small cabinet with a JBL was around 60 lbs.
It's 20" wide across the front.
500 LV, large cabinet with Evans speaker, 59-60 lbs.
25" wide across the front.
After picking up these amps, the Session feels like it's bolted to the floor.

I have been using a Evans FET500 LV for 22 years with nothing but great results, of course it has a JBL E130 in it. It outperforms my 200 SE Evans I bought in 1999. Even after I changed the speaker to a 1501-4 Black Widow speaker the older FET 500 outperforms the newer Evans. Good luck

I love my small cabinet FET 500 LV. I just had my first problem with mine yesterday. From what some other forum members say, it doesn't sound too serious. Mine had a JBL E-130 in it when I got it. I switched to a 1501-4 SB Black Widow and I like it a little better and it shaved about 5lbs off the weight!
