Overdub Steel with Karaoke?

Post by Jody Carver »

Can anyone clue me on this? I have a friend who has written a song using Karaoke. I would
like to add some Steel parts, what procedure if any will work. The song is a vocal with Karaoke as back up, and since it's meant to be for demo purposes only I would like to overdub some steel parts.

Anyone? edited for spelling.

Jody........

Use one of them little 4-channel mixerboards.
Put the Karaoke tracks on channel 1 + 2.

If you are useing a "Profex II", put the output of it to channel 3 + 4. If the output from the Steel is monural, use a Y splitter to channel 3 + 4.

Mix it down good and spin the results off to another cassette tape.

I do it all the time. Works really great. Most of the time, you can't tell that the Steel wasen't a part of the original cut.
