What Effects For LeGrande/Nashville 400 Setup?
I have an Emmons LeGrande III and use a Nashville 400 amp. I am looking at purchasing a new effects unit and wonder what you guys have found to be the best for this setup. Also, what kind of price range would I be looking at for any effects units? Any replies would certainly be appreciated.

Effect units are in the "ears" of the beholder. I personally use a little RV3 unit. which Boss doesn't make anymore. They have an RV5 now.. which I have seen advertised, but never used...these Work great..sound good..and fairly inexpensive. There are a lot of fancier units around..but this works great for me. Simply stated, I think the guys like the versatility of being able to mix the Reverb AND the Echo (repeat) at the SAME time. Some unit do one or the other, but can't mix the two.. Danelectro also made one as I remember..Hope this helps.<font size="1" color="#8e236b"><p align="center">[This message was edited by Richard E. Lee on 12 April 2005 at 06:20 PM.]</p></FONT>

Paul..me again,,just happened across the posting here on that Dan-Echo. delay unit. Musiciansfriend.com..has them as Product No. 151855. on that website you can see some of the comments..pro and con... $89.00 is a good price. I have one of these as well...but I prefer the Boss RV3 Unit..but, thats my personal opinion.<font size="1" color="#8e236b"><p align="center">[This message was edited by Richard E. I think the guys at Boss figured out that the RV3 was a good two in one pedal, so now the new RV5 has NO delay/Reverb combo settings so you would have to also buy a DD3 to get the delay. Peavey's new rack mount Dual Deltafex will do it at $179. TC Electronics also makes the M300 for $199. I have not seen a stomp box that does just reverb and delay like the RV3 did - other than the cheap plastic multifx pedals by Digitech and Zoom ($59 and up)and I've not tried them but I doubt they have the sound the RV3 does. Another good choice would be a used Peavey Profex II, usually found on buy and sell at a reasonable price.

I don't think there is anything special as far as effects for your combination. It's no different than any aother guitar and amp.
Just depends on what you need. Personally, I don't like the RV3. I tried three of them and they all "colored" changed tone of the guitar (lost body and lows). I have a friend with an Emmons Legrande II with Lawrence 710 pickups and he experienced the exact same signal "coloring" problem that I experienced. If you just want a "stomp box", I have a DD-5 delay and it does not "color" the signal.
If you go for something more elaborate, it's up to you. The Lexicon's are widely used. I have a rack type TC Electronic G-Major that works great (Randy Beavers also has a G-Major). Just all in what you want and how much you want to spend (how much "GAS" you have).

Paul.. I knew if you asked..there would be somebody more experienced than me to answer back on these units. I did breakout my old Dan-Ecko unit tonight..it doesn't sound too bad. I still like my RV3..(comparing the 2). I just don't like hauling all that stuff around (rack mounts)etc...I'm not a good player either..so again..it comes down to what YOU are satisfied with.! You may want to put a couple lines in the "Wanted" section..here on the Forum..and see if anybody has a used RV3 for sale. I paid $175 a couple years ago..via Scottt's at the St. Louis show..and personally have been very satisfied. Good luck<font size="1" color="#8e236b"><p align="center">[This message was edited by Richard E. Lee on 14 April 2005 at 05:27 AM.]</p></FONT>
