there is a amp out called the atomic amp that has a place to use the pod or the vox tonelab for the pre amp Ive read nothing but rave reviews about it, it goes for about $500

Yes, I've seen the ads, too. But they only have 18 watts... They sport a tube power amp which sounds like a good idea... And you can change the modelling device, they are hold by a frame that fits the shape of the Behringer/Vox/Line6 devices.

I'd live to test one...

It looks cool, Harry Kolbe is very savvy. My low-power rig is a Pod 2.0 with a 50-watt solid-state Ampeg bass amp, which definitely helps warm things up. I like the size of this, but I wonder if there's enough juice for a steel player. Not much chance of trying one of these out before buying, but I'd like to do that.
