I'm looking for your opinions on the Session 400 LTD Amp. It has 1-15 BW in it. Perfect condition. Do you have any experience, (good or bad)..any mods. to be installed as in the NV400 ie. Can you guys/gals help stear me toward or away from buying this unit, with your knowledge or experience with these amps? Thanks

I prefer the original Session 400 over it by far. I like the discrete transistor frontend better. So far I have never heard a Session 400 Limited or a Nashville 400 that I liked any better than an original Session 400 or LTD 400. But then again, that's just my ears preference!

If it's the old LTD model it's the same amp as the old Session 400 but a smaller cabinet. These are great amps and they'll last forever, real road dogs. I had a Session 400 Limited for years and it's just an OK amp in my opinion, nothing to compare to the old Session 400 or the LTD's. I still use a couple of the old Session 400's I've had for over 20 years and after putting the Brad Sarno mod kits in last summer, I'd say they sound as good or better than they ever did and ready for another 20 years. The Session 400 will give you a little more bass response than the LTD because of the bigger cabinet. These are the best amps ever made for steel guitar by Peavey in my opinion.

I sold my Nashville and Vegas, still have the 500 cause I figure no one wants them these days because of the weight, I only use the older Session 400 LTD now, as Ken pointed out the discreet transistor front end has a better sound, I have two LTDs and one Session 400 and am foolish enough to buy another if it comes along, I really love the older Session 400 and the Session 400 LTD, I had a the Session 400 with the two EVM 12 inch speakers long ago and wouldn't mind finding another

This is awful nice of you guys ..chimming in on this. I pulled this amp up on the Peavey Website..and there IS a "enhancement Kit" available for it..and as near as I can tell,, it is the newer series called "single-unit Steel guitar amp" (whatever that means) It is NOT the older Session 400 with the JBL's and the silver knobs. This is the smaller plastic knobs.and with one 15 BW in it. This amp is "new" as far as I can see..and you're right.."heeevey" but if it has the lows in it because of the size.. i would perfer it..and the price is right as well.. Again, thanks for all your imput, it is really appreciated ! dick

The Session 400 with 2-12" EV was a rare bird, Jim. I would love to have one myself! Great sounding amps and as mentioned the LTD-400 cab is the size of a Nashville 400, so expect a little less bass response. I love the old LTD-400 for 6 string guitar as well. I played thru one at at a jam a few weeks ago, I had forgot how good an amp it was.

There is no mod kit for the original Session 400 amp as most steelers like'm just the way they were designed!
