The D140 JBL does not have the highs that the D130 has. It is a bass speaker. You will not like it unless you prefer lots of lows and little high end.

The D140 has a different cone. I believe it's a straight and ribbed cone for bass rigidity. The classic JBL sound that we all love so much is that smooth curvilinear shaped cone as seen on a D, K, or E 120 or 130 as well as on the Black Widow by Peavey.

Hi Friends, I put a 15" Black Widow bass speaker in my amp because my ear wants to hear tight bottom and mids. Then set a 3" peizo on top for presence. The amp is/was a black face Super Reverb highly modded to a Twin circuit.I run steel through one chanel and lead guitar through the other.Works for me..

You can have it re-coned as a 130. use official JBL parts and have someone who is a qualified JBL re-coner to do it.

Thanx,
Jim
