I have one but haven't hooked it up yet. It should work good in sweetening up the tone of a solid state rig. In fact, I just picked up a second one the other day.

I've tried a Tube Sweetener before with my Nashville 400 and it does soften up the sound.

What exactly is a Sweetener and where do you get them and how much?

Gere, Peavey discontinued making them. You can pick one up on ebay for around $100. They aren't plentiful. Just have to keep checking ebay. They are a 3 tube (12AX7) stereo preamp.
Mike, are the manuals and schematics available?

The last one I picked was NOS and had never been out of the box. I gave $150 for it, brand new.

How do these units compare to the Black Boxs? Are they similar?
