I saw the piano player for Buck Owens a few yrs ago using one. He sounded great. It was mic'd with a SM-57.

Hope this helps Jim.

I would think it would sound terrible, the keyboard need a full range speaker with a horn or tweeter, it may sound great if youve never heard anything else, someone could have been using one for a monitor and had a direct line going to the house but this is definatly not the way to go for keyboard Mackie maked a great powered speaker so does JBL and behringer, several companies make keyboard amps,Peavey, roland, Yamaha, crate, fender, do yourself a favor and try one of these with full range speakers and you will hear a big difference Jeff

Yes, it will work. But, keyboard amps have come a long way in recent years. Check out our KB line of keyboard amps here; http://www.peavey.com/products/browse.cfm/action/list/cat/70/begin/1/Amplifiers.cfm

The bottom line is that any amp will work for any instrument, but there are limitations.

I had to surrender my NV400 on a job where I doubled on guitar, after the pianomans amp crapped out. It sounded great.

I've used an Evans with a 15" JBL for piano (keyboard) and it sounded great....and btw, that's all that Roy Rosetta uses, and he always sounds great, so, I don't see why a NV400 wouldn't sound great as well (my opinion).

I double on keyboard and plug both the MSA and the keyboard into the Nashville400.
I pull the volum knob to the bright position
and cut the bass eq a little for keyboard.
It works for the band. The keyboard is a Yamaha PSR 500 and the piano is great. Sometimes its layered with strings. The only other voices I use are just the vibe and rock organ. Maybe some horns on break songs.

The Peavey steel amps don't have quite enough clear high frequency response for keyboards IMHO. Nevertheless I sometimes use the Vegas when I bring both keys and steel to a gig.

Have any of you guys that think it sounds great tried the same keyboard through a good keyboard amp. Mike makes a great point, it may work if you have nothing else but if you are going to buy something for keyboard dont get a guitar or steel amp. I play steel and keyboard. I have a kurzweil one of the best made and I wouldnt think of playing it through my steel amp.Why do you think every manufacture of keyboard amps have tweeters or a horn or both in their amps? Becasue a keyboard needs a more full range speaker, they cant all be wrong
