What jacks for drilled-out SKB rack case?

Amplifiers, effects, pickups, electronic components, wiring, etc.

What jacks for drilled-out SKB rack case?

Post by David Mason »

I want to install some 1/4" input and output jacks on the side of an SKB rack case so that I don't have to open up the back - where do you find jacks with long enough shafts, quality cable etc. Any hints would be appreciated.

David, Mount the jacks on a sheet of metal, cut a square hole in the case and screw the metal to the case. I mount mine using a metal electrical receptacle box. I cut a hole in the rack case to slide the box into and mounted the jacks to the metal cover. I secured the box with an L-bracket on the inside of the rack case. This will shield the wires. I also put a switch in the cover to switch the input between FX and tuner. The switch also shorts the FX input to ground, when tuning,to eliminate hum.
[This message was edited by John Daugherty on 26 February 2005 at 11:42 AM.]

Another neat trick is to use a computer power cord, you can unplug the cord, and store it with the rest of your rollup stuff. Radio Shack sells both.
