Using The Black Box With A Nashville 400

Post by Paul King »

Brad Sarno has what is called the Black Box that several steel players are using. I am considering buying one with Uncle Sams income tax money coming in. I would like some feedback or advice from anyone who uses the Black Box with a Peavey Nashville 400 amp. Can you tell a big difference in sound? Does it give the tube sound others have talked about? I have read nothing but good things about the Black Box and even read where someone was using the box in their recording equiptment. Any advice or comment would be greatly appreciated.

I use it on both my NV400 and NV112. I wouldn't want to go back to the "old tone".

I think you will like the sound. Puts a sure 'nuff 12ax7 tube up front like a real tube amp. Once you have a good signal, then EQ it, add efx, and send it to a power amp.

Yep, it'll even make my WEBB sound "sweeter" and is why I will get me one someday! www.steelguitarblackbox.com
It's the 12AX7 tube up front that does the work. Great job Brad!!

Well really it's a 12AU7...

Here's a quote from Mike Johnson from an email he sent recently. I believe he's referring to his steel setup with a Black Box and a Nashville 400:

"I used your box at a steel show in McGee Miss. in December. It was a huge hit. Everyone loved the sound of it, including me." (Mike Johnson)
