Amp Stand ?
Do most of you use Homemade Amp Stands?
Or is there a manufactured one strong enough to safely hold a Nashville 1000?
If so where do I get one?
Thanks in advance.

Most of us, unless you position your steel ten feet from your amp, facing it, to get the true tone, don't really know the exact tone we're getting from our amps because we sit above them. I played for a long time with too much highs because of that. Plus it makes it easier to make any adjustments if necessary. Also, if you're playing in a small club unmiced, it lets your sound breath better into the mix.

Trade that Session for a Nashville 112, then you can use any stand! That's what I did. Don't miss my old Session at all! More tone, plus half the weight. I bought an amp stand at Guitar Center....works just fine.

I have ALWAYS needed my amp up behind me, as on a chair. Hwever, after running into several places where a suitable chair is not to be found, I started trying (buying) amp stands. The first two I thought were OK, but they don't do the job. Then, out at STL in Sep. this year, the Fulawka room had these really neat stands. I promptly ordered one from a guy there who was in Atlanta. He sent me mine. My local steel store (90 miles or so) is Hummingbird Music in Apple Creek, Ohio. He sells the line, but didn't have the model I wanted in. It's made my Stage Stands Inc., and it has "serrated" circular "joints" to adjust the X type legs and the tilt of the stand itself. The "arms" that hold the amp (or whatever) are LONG, like a foot long apiece. Ans they fold. This thing folds almost (not quite) flat. It's the best transport I've had yet. If the place I play has chairs, I use the chair for the amp and I p8ut my rack on the amp0 stand. If I need this good stand for the amp, I have to put my rack on another stand, one of those stage stands that has a fixed height and a fixed tilt.

I hate amp stands for the same reason why most steel players love them. To my ears they make the steel sound too shrill and lacking in bottom end. I have my amp on the floor.

Dan...LOL, the amp stands don't make the amp sound shrill and lacking in bass. What that amp stand is doing is having you hear exactly what's actually coming out. In other words, the audience is hearing an amp that is too shrill and lacking low end, because they're in front of it! Maybe your perfect tone is only good for "your ears" above the amp!

Do you know what would be a real good thing to have?A amp stand that would hold up a 500 and three big people to pick it up for you.I like a amp stand myself.Makes it a little easier to reach back and make adjustments.Little easier to see the knobs.
