Black Box on Bass Guitar

Post by Al Terhune »

I saw one post where a BB was used for a bass with good results, but without giving specifics. Does anyone else have any BB/bass results? My main interest is in recording, and, as a novice, having good string separation without murk, yet still having deep bass, is tough. I know I'll enjoy the fruits of using it with both pedal and lap steel, but the bonus of it being a bass perker-upper sounds wonderful.

Thanks.

I see no reason why it wouldn't improve a basses sound.

Many players still like to play through tube amps, but can't get the head room needed, so use solid state amps.

A bb before the amp would likely be an improvement.

Al, you can buy one and try it for 30 days. If it doesn't satisfy, you can return it for a full refund. Sometimes the only way to know if a piece of gear will suit you is to try it at home on your own rig. Along with that no-questions return policy is my request that the Box remain unscratched and in "new" condition.

Thanks,

Hey Brad,

Well, you can't lose with that kind of business policy -- meaning, you're going to be like Keith in that you take care of your people -- and you'll always have a business. That said, I'm planning on buying one of your BB's regardless for my steels -- I trust all the opinions I'm reading of people I've grown to respect.

I'm still in the process of gathering up my dollars. I imagine it will be within a couple of weeks. Will you have boxes in stock then? I saw on your website that you were out until about now...

Thanks,

Al

I've been using the BB for recording bass direct, as well as sending just about everything I record through the BB first.

This includes an MPC 1000 drum/machine sequencer, and a Line 6 Variax acoustic guitar modeler. Everything gets hit first by the BB tube, then to my preamps and into the computer. I probably need to buy one more so that I can record stereo with the MPC. The tube difference is subtle but sweet, and with the help of some of eq plug ins, I can get the sound I want.
