Does anyone know the differences in 6L6 and KT66 tubes? The stuff that I find on the internet says that they interchange. Does the 6L6 have more output? I have 2 amps and the one with 6L6's is louder and does not break up as soon. I know... I should just switch them between amps and see what happens but I thought I would ask if anyone knows the difference.
Thanks,

They are similar, but not the same.
You should really only change power tube types in your amp if you can re-bias your amp for the new power tubes . This may also require changing bias resistors as well for max. efficiency.
Tube amp circuits are designed specifcally for the type of tube that is used..can you swap ? yes..should you ? Not sure...
It's like Elaine says on Seinfeld..
"They're exactly the same, just different"
try this link, it may be of some help..

They seem to feel there are no issues..
good luck
