Hilton Pedal: Regular vs Low Profile

Anyone have a preference on the Regular or Low Profile pedals?

I currently use the low profile Goodrich L-120 and really like it. I'm thinking it may be better to get the low profile Hilton, since I'm used to that height. But, being that it is more expensive, I wanted to get some opinions from some satisfied users. Hopefully Santa will bring me one this year. Aside from a few impure thoughts, I've been pretty good...

Well, I was surfing around looking for the best price on the Hiltons, when I ran across a Goodrich LDR, which is also a "potless" pedal. Anyone have experience with it as compared to the Hilton?

And, I notice there are AC cords on both. So, I'd have to plug these new pedals into an outlet?

Woops....Brad, do you mind moving this to electronics? I probably should have posted this over there to begin with...

Jeff,
The 'profile' of the standard Hilton pedal is much the same as is Goodrich's L-120.
Hiltons 'low' profile pedal is even lower than the Goodrich L-120.

Well, since you've been pretty good, I hope that you get one. I agree with Russ. The height of the standard Hilton pedal is about the same as a low profile Goodrich. Keith Hilton reccomended his standard height pedal to me and it fits great,(I'm 6'3") although I've always had to use a low profile Goodrich. Will Santa go to Jacksonville even if there isn't any snow?

Is the Goodrich LDR a standart pedal or also a low version? I need a pedal too for christmas. I heard also that the Goodrich is more "neutral" to the sound then the Hilton. Is that correct? Or is that just a comment from a Goodrich-lover??? Any info would be real helpfull!!!

Do you have to plug these "potless" pedals into an AC outlet? They don't work like a standard pedal...a plug from amp, plug into the steel, and you're ready go??

Jeff, yes they both come with an adapter that needs to be plugged into an AC outlet. They do, however, eliminate the need for patching into the pre eq loop.

Jeff I played a Goodrich L-120 for many years then went to a low profile Hilton with absolutely no problem or adjustment time. My tone is cleaner, no tonal change as you push on the gas or let off the gas which is something I really like. You do have to plug it in but that's not hard to do. I can't compare to a Goodrich LDR because I haven't used one. the price is worth every penny.

Anybody have the numbers on actual pedal travel for Hilton standard vs Goodrich 120 standard? Are they pretty close?

I swapped Keith Hilton a 'regular' for a low profile at the STL convention because I wanted a "quicker" action . . . the low profile actually has the same travel as the regular, BUT, because the hinge point is farther back, it feels "quicker."

I don't think ( I could be wrong) that Goodrich yet makes a low profile of the light pedal.

While on this subject, could someone conpare the profile of the two Hilton pedals and the Goodrich potless to the profile of the Emmons pedal. I am currently using the Emmons and would like to move up, but I couldnn't get my knee under the guitar if the profile was any higher. Thanks.

For Johnny Harris - I went from Emmons pedal(s) to Hilton, and even the 'regular' was no problem. . . .the low profile is only better. I used the Emmons adapter on both.

Johnny, my knee also rubs on a standard height guitar. The worst thing about this is that my knee has absolutely no leverage on the knee lever, making it too hard to engage.
I am 6 ft 3 and have to have the 1" leg extenders, which are cheap and easy to install. If you don't know about them, I think you should get them. Bobbe sells them.
I use a regular height Hilton and had a Goodrich 120 before that and they both work fine with my long legs.
