need some feedback

Post by Robert Thomas »

I have been using a MP-5 plus Peavey Amp head for several years now. It is rated at 150 watts. Peavey has come out with a MP600 and it is rated at 200 watts. I am driving 4-16 ohm, 12" speakers. I am being told that I would experience some improvemnt if I went to the 200 watt amp. I need some confirmation that I would be betering myself by going to 200 watts. Is that so?
I am running my HWP Mullen PSG, a ryhthm machine, microphone and several effects.
I have sent 2 e-mails to Peavey, but cannot get a response, so I need direction from someone who has answer.
It is too bad that it is not possible to try something out before you buy it.

Hi Bob,
Hey, I don't think you'll find much of a difference beyond having a few more channels.
FWIW, Guitar Center gives a 30 day money back, no questions asked, trial period.
I don't know if they carry Peavey gear, but you could pick up any 200W powered head and do a side-by-side comparison.
Just a thought.
I thought you sounded just fine in the huge room at the fair! At no time was I thinking, "if you just had 50 more watts..."
I agree having more channels to plug stuff in is nice, though.
