the strings on an emmons volume pedal?
are these strings a problem, I mean as far as breaking? I didn't even know those pedals had a string untill I got mine in the mail today.
what kind of string do you use to replace it, if it happens to break?

Owning a Goodrich pedal I am not familiar with the mechanics of the Emmons pedal, but The string on mine has broken once in eight years. I inspected it about two months ago and noticed it had begun to fray, so I replaced it preemptively.
The Goodrich L120 pedal has a metal post that the string attaches to. When I changed the string I took a small jewelers file and some very fine sandpaper and smoothed the edges of the post where the string makes contact.
You might check places on the Emmons pedal where the string crosses rough or sharp edges...

The Emmons pedal I'm using right now I bought in 1977 from Clem Schmitz at the Pedal Steel Guitar Emporium in Minneapolis. I can only remember changing the string 4 times. Once adjusted, (meaning the tension is right on the string,) it will last a long time.
Put a little rosin on new string before installation. (The last time I changed it I used the fiddle players bow rosin and it worked fine. Emmons Guitar sells a spray rosin, too.)
