Should have gotten another Peavy

Post by Joe Tyson »

In the ongoing process of trying to improve my sound, my friend suggested trying a Fender re-issue twin reverb coupled up with my Nashville 400. I searched the web for a peavy dealer and chose to go with the one offering the best price and free goodies. When I contacted them of course they were out of stock and I would be dropped shipped one from the factory. It Would take 5 working days to get to me from Fender which was not a problem at that time. July 14 was order date which also was the date that the dealer charged my visa card. It took 12 days to reach me and one of the 6L6's was broken when it arrived. It was in no way ups fault for the carton was not even dented. It was due to the way the amp was packed. Anyway I called the dealer and asked to have Fender next day air me a new tube. I was promptly told that Fender does not ship next day air to anyone. I would have to wait for Fender to ship him the tube and he would next day air it to me. Well it is now Aug.2nd and I have yet to receive anything. Seems like if you spend the price of Fender equipment they should be more helpful in getting the product to you in good order, or at least get you up and running asap. I bet Mike Brown would have had me up and running long before this.

IMHO, Peavey and Mike Brown can make a lot of good things happen for us steel folks when we have a particular need quickly. Image

The amp was purchased from a dealer, not Fender.

Who took your credit card payment ?

Considering how many dealers Fender has I am not suprised that they do not overnight anything.Considering that Fender is sending them the new tube and then they will send it to you says it all to me. Why do they need to wait on Fender ? Why don't they just send you a new tube overnight as you requested ? It appears they are going to get a replacement from Fender ..

Ok lets see..they didn't have an amp in stock, and now they don't have a tube in stock ? Sounds like a dealer problem to me..

Concerning the breakage, I hate it for you but they are glass and lots of things can happen during shipment.

Don't give up on the amp, it should be great...

Why the dealer doesn't have a tube to send to you asap also beggars comprehension.
[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 03 August 2004 at 04:11 AM.]

I do appreciate the compliments, and yes, I would have sent you a tube if that was the problem. Yes, it is good to depend on the person who actually took your money, but in some cases the factory has the responsibility of taking care of your needs on small items such as a tube.

But, with Peavey you would have the option of speaking with an actual person by calling toll free at 1-877-732-8391. I hope that some of our competitors learn from Peavey.

As Mike said.

My point is that if the dealer expects Fender to send him a tube, he should send one of his stock out immediately to the client.
or expect that client in his face tout de suite.

If he has no 6L6's in stock.. he has no business selling a tube amp that needs them.

This has less to do with Fender than with the dealer you chose. My dealer here would replace a Fender tube no questions asked. Its a warranty and dealer sales issue. Sounds like you chose the wrong dealer to save a couple of bucks.
