Cleaning Fender foot pedal

Post by Greg Wine »

I have an old Fender low-profile foot pedal which I love, but the string drive slips. Any tips on cleaning or adjusting the slip out?

Well, the pot can be "stiff", but not noisy. To fix that, place a <u>small</u> drop of oil where the shaft meets the bushing. (Take care not to apply so much that it runs down onto the pulley.) Once the shaft of the pot turns easily, that may be all that's needed. If it still slips, then the string needs to be shortened a little. That's easy enough...just slip the string off of the spring and make another knot about 1/2" from the old one. Now, when you slip the spring-end through the new knot, the spring will stretch tighter, and your "slipping" problems should be history! Image

Thanx Donny, oil did the trick.
