cable problems

I had a problem with my vol. pedal,fixed it and when changing it out,there was a loud noise (the kind when you touch a live plug end)when I unpluged it,reinstalled the end(the solderless kind),another problem that had been bugging me disappeared,my FX unit was not sounding good at all,my amp sounded like a bad speaker,etc,etc, all because of a bad cable connection.Everything sounds great now, or as much as my pickin will allow..

Moral of this story......keep a spare cable and do a swapout to eliminate bad cables first.
