Does the claibrate buttom allow you to set your 440 reference to 442 or whatever and read that out at "0" on the meter?

yes......
Say,that an "A" from the piano is 5-6 cents flat......

1) play the "A"note on the piano
2) Let the tuner hear it. (It will show flat)
3) press the calibrate button. The pointer will go to the 0 (stright up)marker.
4) Now, tune your insturment stright up according to the meter.

At this point you are in tune with the piano, eventho you both are flat somewhat.

But, when you turn off the tuner, then turn it back on,it goes back to the default 440 cal. Most of the small hand-helt tuners do this.

I hope you ment set "A" to 442.
"A" is 440. "E" is four(4)tones above "A" so if you try to set "E" to 442, I'm afraid that you're gonna break more than one(1) string plus be so far off pitch that nobody will find you.

Thats right....

Just remember, turning off the tuner will set it back to default. Your next check will show that you are flat somewhat.

Bill,

You mean sharp, right? All I'm trying to do here is tune my E's to reference 442, and read the needle at the zero position. At that point, the guitar is tuned sharp (442).
