Jody, carbs are where the tone is, or at least where I thought it was. I don't lift that amp, it's a push - pull.

I used to hate to see those VT-22's come in the shop, I thought they might weigh at least 500. I Sure feel sorry for the guy that was in shipping at Ampeg when these monsters were in production.

One thing is for sure, when they were right, they would eat a Fender twins lunch and its dessert too. Image Great amp!

Bill, it was just in the news yesterday that researches are thinkin' the egg came first. (Seriously, it was in the Wall Street Journal I believe). I don't understand their logic, something to do with genetic dominance...

Golden Fleece award winner fer shure!

But, which hen laid the egg?
[This message was edited by Ray Minich on 18 July 2004 at 04:00 PM.]

The answer, eventually, is neodymium. Maybe sooner than you think.....

Unfortunately, I don't have the documentation for the official weight of the Session 500. If I get one in here for repair, I'll weigh it and post it at a later date.

I weighed my Session 500 on medical scales several years ago. If memory serves me, I think it was about 81 pounds with the cover on.

When I was recently considering shipping my 500 to a buyer, it weighed 92 lbs on my bathroom scales (with cover, casters, cords and leg switch. I decided to deliver it instead of UPS! Image

.....however my scales could be wrong!

I weighed my old 550 on my scales and it weighed in at 89 lbs. Since I no longer play my 500, my chiropracter had to sell his BMW.

I remember back in my younger days, carrying a Session 500 in one hand and a loaded MSA D-12 in the other. They balanced each other out very well, but pity the people that got in my way once I got started! Image
