Question; Is the speaker a Black Widow? Did the sound change after the new speaker was installed? Could it be the speaker? Is it your steel that is really the problem? Have you tried another steel guitar?
I'd like to assist you in determining the problem if you will call me on our toll free consumer number at 1-877-732-8391 between the hours of 8am and 5pm CST.
Hope to hear from you soon.

I have both amps, the Nash 400 prior to my getting the Webb 614-E and to me it's the Webb "Hands Down" although the Webb is heavier with all its features including the remote reverb (one of my favorites) it's still the best but alas more expensive and harder to come by as you may find out..If you have a chance to A B them you should and then you can decide for yourself.

Recently having both a '97 Webb 614-E w/ JBL E-130 and a '97 Nashville 400 w/ Module and BW 1501-4, I had the chance to compare both side by side. There is a different sound, but similiar in many ways to my ears. Considering the cost, dependability, access to customer service, and available means of repair if needed, the Nashville stayed and the Webb left. As for output before distortion, the Nashville wins easily. Just my opinion!

I am Peavey all the way. I found that when I experimented with Webbs they were fine when sitting in my music room. But out on the job they were too fragile and were always in the shop. I have dropped my Peaveys down aflight of stairs; One fell out the back of a pickemup. Both times plugged em in and played fine. Tone is up to the individual but I'll personally take the Peaveys; especially my Nash 112.

I bought my Webb in '79 and it bounced around in the bottom of a bus for over 7 years - 250 nights of the year -- and since then has been played a lot primarily at home and the occasional gig. It has not really had any problems at all -- very well built amp. The Webb is the best single cabinet amp for my musical taste if I was force to have just one amp.
However, the Nashville 400 with the LeMay mod is a 'different sound' but very powerful and very good sounding amp...they are built rugged and I love the 400 because it is a different sounding and built to take a beating on the road.
Bottomline...buy one of each! HA HA
[This message was edited by Bill Simmons on 16 June 2004 at 06:22 PM.]

I just bought a Vegas 400 from Pete Burak, (once belonged to Doug Jones and Jerry Gleason). It has a JBL 2220B reconed to 4 ohms. I compared it side by side with my Webb (12" BW) and could get them to sound very similar with tone control adjustments.
When I plugged the 12" into the 400 you could peal paint from the walls with the highs with the same tone settings. Speakers can make a big difference.
I also never liked the "other channel" of a Vegas I had years ago, but was able to get a good sound from this one. (Lemay Moded)
