Peterson V-SAM Strobe Tuner Question

Post by Peter »

In the Quick reference guide of my V-SAM, there is a reference to the E9th tuning on page 9, paragraph 3.

It says:
SE9 (ROOT:E) Tempered Steel Guitar E9 Tuning
SE9 (ROOT:Bb) Tempered Steel Guitar D9 Tuning
SC6 (ROOT:C) Tempered Steel Guitar C6 Tuning
SC6 (ROOT:B) Tempered Steel Guitar B6 Tuning

I understand the C6 root settings: To drop from C6 to B6, you need to drop the root also a semitone, from Root C to Root B.

But,I don't understand the E9 root settings: To drop from E9 to D9, the root shifts from E to Bb. Is that a printing error?

For the E9 and D9 tuning, should it read ROOT:C and ROOT:Bb ?
Or should it be ROOT:E and ROOT: D ?

In Paragraph 4 it says to transpose:
..in the case of the E9 neck choose TPMR:SE9 and then ROOT:C (for C6 choose TPMR:C6 and then ROOT:C)

Now I am REALLY confused.. Image

Must it be C or E for the E9 root?

That sounds like a printing error to me.

Do you know there's support forums over at http://www.petersontuners.com/support/index.cfm

You'll get the definitive answer there.

Maybe download the latest manual and see if it's changed.
[This message was edited by Joey Ace on 12 June 2004 at 06:53 AM.]

Thanks Joey, I checked and noticed that the default C root settings is required for GTR, BAS, SE9 and SC6.
