Speaker repair help?

I have a JBL that has a "U" shaped 3 inch weak line in the cone about midway between the voice coil cover and the outer edge. It appears that something bent the cone from the back side and weakened it at this line. Can this be reinforced and if so will it affect the tone to any extent? What should I do? The speaker is otherwise in good shape.

Jerry,
I've used just plain silicon on tears in
speaker cones for years. Works great &
stays flexible after it dries. You don't
need much to do the job either. Just let
it dry overnight before using the speaker.

Either the previously mentioned silicon or neoprene in a tube has worked fine for me. Still have some old Oxford 12's from a blonde Bassman that still work fine, after sticking neoprene on some cone tears back in the late 60's.
