Whats a decent cheap Bass amp?

Post by Steve Frost »

I'm looking for a decent entry level bass amp- but not something I'll regret buying after a few months. Any suggestions? TIA- Steve

Steve,

I'm not sure what your idea of entry level is or what price range you are looking for, but I love my Peavey TNT-115.

I got mine from a music store for about $400. Its got lots of power for clubs and fire hall size gigs, and is indestructible. The cab is a bass reflex design, which plays louder than a closed back cabinet with the same power. Did I mention the Black Widow speaker?

It pretty much sux for steel though... just can't get the eq right, even with an outboard preamp.

I had to put wheels on mine though.... its pretty heavey.

Combo 300 was another great Peavey amp for a great price. For a nice deeper tone, try a Crate, they can be had pretty cheap. However, I find the Peavey equipment a lot more reliable.

I have a Peavey bass amp and I also bought a Carvin amp and it's as good or better than the Peavey for less money. Carvin is high quality stuff. I also have their 5 string bass and it's incredible and for the price it beats anything out there.
