microphonic pots on session 400

Post by Peter Siegel »

I have an old Session 400 (late 70s) and some of the pots have become microphonic. What causes this / how can I get it fixed?
Many thanks, - Peter

Bassically, just clean them with a good de-oxidizer and...... Resolder them to the pcb. After a number of years, these pot develope microscoply cracks between the solder on the PCB and control pins. Redo ALL of the pots, not just the volumne controls.

I just got through going one that sounded O.K. at low volumn but at a louder volumn, it cracked up really bad. Just a little time with a solder gun or iron can save a lot of money for pots and replacement parts.
