15" JBL Speaker Recone

Post by Chuck Martin »

I just picked up an old Evans Hybrid that needs a recone done on its 15" JBL E130 4 ohm. Where's a good place to get this work done? Can you still get recone kits for the 4 ohm version and what do recones typically cost?

Thanks

Chuck, You might check with:
Music Technologies in Springfield Va.
703-764-7005
Washington Music Center (Chucks)
301-946-8808
Can't comment on their prices or quality but they're some of the few places around that I've heard of.

Mike, JBL does not make 4 ohm baskets anymore. The only option to get it back to 4 ohm is to take an aftermarket kit unless someone by chance has an old E 4 ohm kit. Speakerworks ( David Miller ) in Tulsa is having Altec Lansing in Oklahoma City rewind him an edge wound 4 ohm basket that sounds incredible . It is not a JBL, but it is a paper edge great sounding basket that sounds like the OLD ones !!! You could call him and tell him I said to call . (918) 664-6299.
