evans hi voltage versus LV
I used to work at a music store that sold evans amps in 79 and 80 and we sold probably ten on tnem the one I kept was burned up by a bad electrical socket. Year later I bought a LV model but it just didnt sound the same has anyone else experienced this I wonder why they switched, I never see them for sale, maybe everyone likes them as much as I did anyone else have a opinion on this

JEFF THE LV WILL SOUND AS GOOD AS THE HV
BUT YOU HAVE TO MODIFY IT .
I REPLACED THE SWITCHES FOR THE DEPTH AND
EXPAND WITH POTS. .THEN YOU HAVE MORE ADJUSMENT
IT WILL SOUND GREAT. I ALSO MOVED THE VOLUMES FOR LEFT AND RIGHT CHANNELS FROM THE BACK TO THE FRONT.
NOW MINE LOOKS AND WORKS LIKE THE HV.
HOPE THIS HELPS
[This message was edited by ROGER CASTLEBERRY on 10 May 2004 at 10:55 AM.]

[This message was edited by ROGER CASTLEBERRY on 10 May 2004 at 11:09 AM.]

Jeff According to Mr Jim Evans the Hi-Volt FET Transistors are more closely related to a tube circuitry than the low volt models. The first model prototype Hi-Volt Evans Jim made had tube sockets with an adapter to put HI-Volt FET transistors in place of the tubes. Both types sound very good and the idea of replacing the flip switches with pots sound like a great refining move to get a balance that please the individual more.
