I used one back in the 80's along with a Furman reverb unit and a Peavey power amp. It was pretty decent, but nothing compared to the amps that are acually "made for steel". Are you just going to use it for EQ, or as a pre-amp (I assume it still has the preamp built in). For a pre-amp, I would recommend an Evans or Stereo Steel.

I'm going to use it with a Evans pre-amp.

I'm surprised you can't get the tone you want out of the Evans. I've always found using seperate EQ units along with a preamp or amp to be frustrating. The Furman is a great unit though.

Richard, I got a wild hair and thought that it might add to the Evans but, it doesn't need it. I have a older Evans pre amp with the on/off switchs for depth & expand that I have in my direct recording rack along with a Lexicon MPX100 and a ADA micro-cab.
Thanks, Tony

I bought an Evans preamp (single space) in 1999 and it also had the switches. I had to sell it in a moment of weakness (financial). I sure wish I could have kept it.
