Lawrence 705 Pickups/Carter?

Post by Bob Snelgrove »

Anyone ever tried this combo? I have the Georg L TW pickups in there now and they might be a bit "mello" for *my* rig. I have an extra 705 I keep as a spare for the Franklin and it looks like the mount is the same?

thx

The 705 and Carter make a great combo! I have one on my Carter S-10. Yes the hole will match on the mounting. Will give you more "bite" than the TW with a very clear tone.

Bob, I had the LXR-16 pickup on the guitar first. It is a great pickup! It was just a little too "touchy" for my style of picking. (The problem is mine, not the pickup.) I found the 705 to have nearly the same range as the LXR-16, but doesn't pickup the picking noise I cause. I have tried a number of George L pickups in the past on other guitars and they sound fine when other people play them, just not when I do. I now have a set of 705's on the MSA I am partially restoring. I just love those pickups! My Carter is last years model, so yes it does have the BCT. In fact it will be on it's way this week to your area. I sold it last week. I think you would be satisfied with the 705 on the Carter. If you decide you want to try an LXR 16, I would swap you even for the 705. The one I have is only 5 months old and mint condition. It wasn the original pickup with the Carter.
