Compare Marshall DSL401 and Nashville 112 please

The local dealer has the DSL401 on sale where the price is comparable to the Peavey Nashville 112. What differences are there between the two amps? The we site is here

I guess I should explain why I am asking.

I will save shipping charges. The Marshall is under $500.

Since I will be using it for steel guitar will the Nashville 112 be better? In other words, is the Marshall more of a guitar amp?

Sherman - The Marshall is definitely a guitar amp and has a lot of features you probably wouldn't want for steel. You will have much better results for steel with the Peavey. It is specifically designed and voiced for steel guitar and has 80 watts vs 40 for the Marshall. Call Bobbe Seymore at Steel Guitar Nashville (615) 822-5555 for his price on the Nashville 112. I'm sure it will be way under $500, shipping included. Hello Sherman,
For steel, there is no comparison between the Marshall and Peavey Nashville 112. Most Marshalls that I have ever seen are for rock guitar. The Nashville 112 amp is specifically for steel guitar. Another question - Has anyone used headphones with a Nashville 1000? How would the Nashville 1000 be modified to accept headphones?

Here's some information for you concerning the use of headphones with the Nashville 1000;It would be very difficult to modify the 1000 to power headphones. An alternative would be the Peavey HB-1 headphone amplifier. This would connect from the PRE AMP OUT jack on the 1000 to the input of the HB-1. The HB-1 has the ability to power two sets of headphones.

Note; A shielded mono cable with one stereo plug on one end and one mono plug on the other end would have to be constructed and used to accomplish this hookup for proper operation.

Mike, for years I have put a stereo to mono adapter on my headphone cord and plugged it directly into the speaker jack of one of my instrument amps. I am always careful to make sure the impedance of the headphones is not less than that of the speaker jack, but most headphones are 4 ohm or greater. I have never had a problem with this. Have I been lucky? Is this in any way bad for an amp?
