Taper "control on Volume Pedal??

Post by Bob Carlucci »

I just bought a used BMI volume pedal on ebay[the price seemed good $40.50 shipping included]. It looks like a good solid pedal. It has a small knob next to the jacks that the seller says is a taper control. I have never had a pedal with one and was wondering what it does. Anyone familiar?? I have seen them before but never used one with that feature bob

I've got an older Goodrich that has that feature. It's a pot that's wired across the main volume pot. The effect is that with the knob turned up, the volume pedal gets louder sooner. With the knob down, it's a normal volume pedal. I seem to leave mine down all the time. I've heard that in loud situations the on-early settings are useful. I'm not sure but I think it may be what some people call the Myrick mod.

Bob,
It's used like an ajustable threshold for the Volume control pot. Just remember to get a feel for it each time before you play.
