CD player into webb amp?
anyone out there have any idea how i can get my cd player to play thru my webb amp? i was thinking last night that since it has two inputs, that one of them could be used to take a signal from the headphone jack on my cd player, and then i could practice to the bands practice recordings and try new stuff out without getting the whole band together to do it. it also could be used to help break in a new speaker while i'm at work. since i'm not familiar with the impedance output of a cd player, i have no way of knowing whether or not this will work. the adapter is the easy part of the puzzle, but will it work without frying the amp? anyone out there ever tried this?

Chris:
I do something similar using a Eurorack mixer. The mixer has 6 channels + input and output jacks for my tape player/recorder. I'm also using Band-in-a-box for practice tracks.
One channel for BIAB and 1 channel for my steel. I use 2 amps (Webb 6-14E & Carvin SX-100)for the output. Works great for me. There's also a jack for a headset for private practice.
The Eurorack mixer is very inexpensive and available from Musicians Friend.
[This message was edited by John Bresler on 28 December 2003 at 05:58 PM.]

I have a 1/8" male plug on one end with both channels going together, going to a 1/4" mono jack that I can and do plug my walkman into my sessions. It's no different than running a similar thing into a PA head for "break music".
It's never blown mine yet.
I've never been one to leave an amp on since my Gretch Nashville shorted high vs to the speaker and fried in 79. Whatever it was it could have smoked more than the amp.
