Rthym Machine Or????

Post by Lawrence Sullivan »

What type of moderately priced rthym machine would be best for a beginer to practice with??? Would CD rthym tracks be best??
BIAB isn't feasible as the computer is too far away to use while practicing and at my present level of ability, no one in the family cares to hear either one.

Thanks for any replies

Respectfuly

Hi,

Rhythm machine or drum machine is probably what you want. Much more fun than a metronome. I know BOSS makes one, and I am sure there are others. One can choose the drum pattern, shuffle, jazz, rock, and you choose the tempo. That is the best part. Practice awhile a slower tempo and speed up if you want. eBay is a good source.

Check out the Zoom drum machines. Super cheap, great sampled drum sounds, and a programable bass track to boot. Extremely basic and easy to prigram and use.

Lawrence, Billy Cooper has developed an absolutely amazing simple great sounding program for the Boss DR 5. He sells the DR 5 set up with a bunch of stuff programmed into it and many songs ready to go. It is very simple to put your own songs into it.
If you don't use Band In A Box on your computer, I would suggest you contact Billy Cooper. I don't know if you have to buy the Boss from him or if you can buy a used one and send it to him for programming. There is a used one for sale at a good price on this forum right now.

Larry, Jerry is on the point with his reply. Get a DR 5 from Billy Cooper. This is a great little unit. With Billy's program, you can create your own tracks for songs or practice, to suit your own taste and play it through the same amplifier that you use with your steel. Call Billy at 540/854-5940 or email him at coopersmusic@hotmail.com
You will never deal with nicer folks than Billy and Wanda Cooper.
