Just got my TT 18.5's installed in my Le Grande II. I always had aa good tone, but now it has that something extra that a player always tries to get. I had a minor problem during the installation, called Jerry and he talked me right through it, No Problem. They kicked butt in my garage but when I took them to the bandstand, man oh man did they cut through. A friend of mine with a respectable ear was there and wondered what I did to get that good tone.
I proudly showed him my new editions and asked him to listen to some differnt tones.
Trebley, bassier and anywhere in between were usuable tones, maybe not mine but quite usuable and good sounding. I was able to tweek the various tones with my Hilton Digital Sustain unit only to the delight of my friend and I. Now he is thinking seriosly about a pair.
For my rig, the 18.5 on both E9 and C6 proved to be the right choice. No doubt
what one's preference is they will not be disapointed.
A quick word about the man. I emailed him and called him on the phone. He was just great to visit with and more than helpful. After all who know more about his product than him. one advantage I had, is he is formerly from Amarillo and we know many of the same people and places even though we have never met. He left just before I moved here.
Yakked enough. However if if you get a chance, try True Tone, I don't think you will be diappointed. I sure ain't.
Keep Pickin', Larry
Kudos for Jerry Wallace and True Tones
