EQs & NV400 question

Post by Richard Tipple »

I just replaced the 1504 BW with a 1501-4BW speaker in my NV400. The high end sliced off a piece of my ears Image!!
My questions are, now I get all the pick clank on the plain strings because of the high end of the 1501-4 BW. If I crank down the highs on the NV400 ,I also crank down the wound string highs which I like with the new 1501. I have tried both high & low in-puts with no avail.
Would a stomp box EQ help with the problem on the plain strings?
Also ,what is the purpose of the presence control on the NV400, is it not just a second control for the highs?
Next, Mod or not to Mod,,I know my old NV400 does not have the Mod installed,, do you who have installed the Mod have any coments for installing the Mod kits,,,what was the biggest improvement you noticed.
Any answeres to any of these questions will be a great help to me & thank you all Image

I recently had a Peavey mod kit installed in
my NV400. The big difference was a major inprovement in the tone of the lower notes ie string 7, 8, 9, 10 on E9th. As well, the entire tone spectrum sounds a lot better.
I was impressed, it was like getting a new amp for $30.00. Highly recommended.
