I've been using my Session 400 & Nashville 400 as a 2 amp set-up and really like the "big" sound it provides. I go from my volume pedal into a Boss RV3 and then into the amps. For me, I set each amp's EQ just as if I was only using that amp as a starting point, same with volume, then tweek things until I find that spot where the sound just comes "alive" to my ears. The amount & what gets "tweeked" depends alot on the room. For me, the best set-up is when I have the room behind me on stage to have about 3 or 4 feet between the amps with both angled slightly inward. Both those amps have 15"BW's, but I have used the Nashville & my Bandit with a 12" speaker and that works well also.

Dave , you have a good start to using a stereo set-up. There is something unique about usib=ng a 12" speaker for your effect side. It will compliment your 15" speaker, alot better than another 15". Just ste the the 15" as you normally do, and set the 12" to a sweet spot. It's a great combination. I found this out, quite by accident. I was using an Evans for my Emmons and a Fender Concert with a 12" in it, and while on a job, decided to experiment. The 12" gives you the frequencies, the 15" can't. I think Robbie Turner uses a similar set-up. Hope this helps. And Merry Christmas! Eddie

Dave, I use a Twin Reverb with two 12s. For a little more bottom end, I sometimes add a 15" in an extension cabinet. If I really need more volume, I run a Vibrasonic head (like a Twin in a head) into the 15" and have twin Twins, so to speak. Awesome. If the stage is small, I stack things to keep the footprint small. Before I got the second Twin I sometimes ran a Nashville 400 with the Twin. Not bad sounding, but not as good as two Twins (just love that tube sound).
I run from a Hilton pedal into a POD XT for effects and reverb, and from the two POD outputs to the two amps. The amp settings tend to be what I would use for each amp alone. But you can usually run the amps at lower volumes, yet still get cleaner tone and more headroom. Also, the POD modeling and effects sound better when the amps aren't straining.
Even if you are playing quieter venues, there is something to be said for breaking up weight and sound into two amps, say two Hot Rod Deluxes, or Devilles, instead of a single heavy 100 or 200 watt amp.
[This message was edited by David Doggett on 24 December 2003 at 04:09 PM.]

Hey Dave....I use a rack system, as you can see from my custom signature at the bottom of this post. I really like the sound I get from it. It's crystal clear.....and plenty of power using the Sond Tech Power amp.

When I used two (2) amps., (from '82 'til earlier this year) I always used two amps. with both EQ's set identical, except of course when I used a Stereo Steel Pre-Amp., which amounted to the same thing. The only difference between my two (2) amps. was that one (1) was Dry and one (1) had Effects usually, except for effects like Stereo-Chorus or Lezlie.
