Any PX-4 Pandora's Box Users???
Anyone use one of these little doo-dads? Got one for Xmas and can't wait to play around with it.
If anyone uses one, what do you yo use it for and what are your thoughts on the unit in general?
Thanks everyone and Merry Xmas to all.

I have one. It can do what it says; I find it quite (as in unacceptably) noisey. I called KORG and they gave me some mumbo jumbo about not plugging it into the regular input of a guitar amp DUH!!!!! saying it should go into a high level input, that way you don't get double preamplification- say what??!! My band won't let me use it at quiet practices because of the noise level. I'm fresh out of high level inputs.
I don't need the various amp/speaker modeling, and it is quite bothersome, greatly affecting your preset sounds. I still haven't been able to get a consistent and controllable fuzz. Either too much, or too little; what I get is not what I "saved". The vol. and gain controls make little sense to me with respect to saved settings. I think the most effective way is to use it on the fly, if you can, and not try to set up the various combinations you want. If you can get good at that, you might be able to get just what you want out of it.
It is so small and so light that even the slightest tug on the cord will have it crashing to the floor. You really need to duct tape it to your amp or somewhere. Makes it look real pretty - easy to pack up at the end of the gig, too.
It has every feature anyone could want, and zillions that few could want. I think they tried to make it do everything for everyone. The more I use it the less I like it. You've helped me decide to sell it.
The manual appears to have been written by someone who already knows how to use it, and doesn't want anyone else to learn.
While it is nice to have on your arm for show, it's not something you would want to bring home to mom
But then again, others' results might vary.

I use one quite a bit. You have to plug it in through the effects loop, though. If you try to go from the guitar through the unit to the amp input you will get the kinds of problems David is talking about. It think it is extremely versatile, lightweight, small, and practical. I can get virtually any effect I want but concentrate on the delay, modulation and reverb effects, although the amplifier and cabinet modelings can get some of those sounds. Forget about using it for distortion or fuzz. You want those effects before your volume pedal and are better off with a Matchbox or stomp pedal. I agree that the manual is not particularly helpful, but this unit is way less complicated than a Genesis 3. You have to keep tweaking it to get the sounds you are looking for, and what sounds good in your bedroom will not always sound good on stage, but I've never had a problem storing settings. Those settings just don't sound the same in different environments. What I do is tweak my setting so that it fits the environment and save it to a new setting. If you want to e-mail me with your setup, I'd be happy to share the settings I use. IMHO, not a bad little unit, but the A/C adaptor is hard to find. Radio Shack has an alternative adaptor that works well. If you want to sell yours, David, I could always use a spare.

Ken,
Looks like we're pretty much on the same page, except that you have appropriate inputs on your amp(s) and took the time to learn how to tame the beast. My plan was to use it with my Maggie (440 Magnatone). I'm disappointed and a bit surprised that KORG didn't bother to give it a suitable output for "standard" level guitar inputs. If that fact was in the literature it sure escaped me.
Ah yes, the elusive a/c adaptor. Did you notice that it takes the one size plug that most "universal" adaptors do not have? I wonder why that is.
. I finally found them at the local bargain store for $3.98 each and bought one for every room and one for the pot.
I will take you up (via email) on your kind offer to share some of your settings with me. I was unable to find any on-line help in this regard, unlike Zoom, and others, that have a vast library of settings from users. I would want to know which amp/speaker model is the most uncolored, settings for light fuzz, heavy fuzz, and echo/delay for a couple of different song types.
