Skip, consider ordering a new baffle board cut for a 15" from Mojo Musical Supply @(336)748-1014. I had them make a baffle for my Hot Rod DeVille and they did a great job using real Fender grillcloth. You can't tell from the front that there is a JBL 15" in there!

I am a Mojo dealer and can vouch for their work. They made a baffle for my 1964 Super Reverb and a cabinet for a 1957 Deluxe that I restored. Both were excellent.

Just curious..How did they get the depth of the JBL to fit in the cabinet ? Considering that the electronics chassis hangs down a pretty good distance it appeared to me when I did have my HRDLX that the depth would be an issue for a 15" speaker..

This is a great little amp for almost moderate to low volume but there is a substantial headroom issue if you need to crank it up. Just keep that in mind.

I bought one of these when they first came on the scene back in the mid to late 90's and I did gig with it on Steel and Guitar and really liked it. But I did have headroom issues with the C6th and when I played fat chords on the guitar.

I did try several different sets of tubes and a few different extension speaker cabinets which had a more robust speaker than the stock Eminance, this helped a bit
but not enough. I stepped up to a HR Deville with 2x12's..problem solved..Night and Day with the headroom and low end clarity issue. No contest. I use this amp almost exclusively for both the Steel and the Tele' now and only drag the N1000 out if I know I have room on the bandstand for 2 amps.

Don't get me wong here..the HRDLX is a great amp, I loved mine..but the JBL will not resolve the amp design of 40 watts with low end distorion and limited headroom. Now if you're gonna just play your 6 string crunchy blues all night..this is the right amp.

Good luck

I bought my self one of those roto tools, like a router but much smaller, the blade resembles a drill bit, the tool has a compass attachment, making perfect round holes in up to 3/4" material, pretty valuabe in do it yourself baffle boards.

I have one of those tools by Dewalt! Never even thought about using it for that. Great idea.
Skip, I will check with Mojotone on that for you.

Instead of cutting it out for a 15, you might want to consider replacing the 12 with an EV 12L speaker. They are a lot smoother, better bottom, and are louder than the stock speaker. That's what I did with mine. A huge improvement.
