amp for non pedal

Anyone have any suggestions/ experience for a small combo amp for lap and console ?
I presently own nice 12 ' eminence woofer speaker cabinet w/ tweeter and a power amp and was wondering if the Sansamp boxes for guitar are a worthwhile idea ? They're around 160 or so .I'm looking at the Fender Blues Junior all tube amp w/ reverb ( $400 ) down the street at the music store. They are also a Peavey dealer , although I'm not a fan of the kevlar speakers peavey uses , too midrangey. I have a Sansamp Bass Driver preamp/ctive DI for my Fender bass and a Sansamp Acoustic DI for my Acoustic bass guitar w/ piezo and they are wonderful little active preamp/di boxes.
Is spring reverb the way to go for non-pedal steel opposed to a digital unit ? Any suggestons would be welcomed

I've had the best results with my silverface Fender Princeton Reverb, but I'd agree with Mike that the Peavey Classic 30 is a good amp for non-pedal steel. The guitarist in my band has a Classic 30 and I've enjoyed playing through it when he lets me.

I also like the Peavey Delta Blues with the 15 inch speaker.

I'd have to agree with Mike on this one also..I've had both amps, and that Classic 30 to my ears is a better sounding amp ...It's also more versitile ...It can also double very nicely as a guitar amp...Throw in a good set of tubes,and a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker and this amp is one of the best sounding studio amps you could own without mortgaging the house !!....Jim

A great inexpensive amp is the Fender brown tolex '63 Vibroverb reissues. 2x10" speakers, and 40 watts of tube power.

They don't make them anymore, but they go used for about $500.00.

As for me, I have to stand by my 1950 Fender Pro-Amp.

I love my Blues Jr. Always recommend it to anyone looking for a decently clean 1x12 combo that won't shake the walls down. 15 watts, 30lbs, great for practice, great for gigs. It's got plenty of dirt if you want it.

By reading past posts, I've seen our moderator Brad uses Jr's lil' brother the Pro Jr, and likes that one just fine. I believe this is a 2-knob amp - vol & tone.
