Lexicon MPX500, yes or no

My Alesis quadraverb gave out, looking for something new. I am checking on the Lexicon, would like some pros and cons on this unit. If you have any, give me imput. Thanks

..my opinion is that the Lexicon is an excellent effects unit, plenty of options, excellent reverbs, but I wouldn't go with the 500, I'd go with the MPX 100...the 100 gives you the same sound and most of the same options for much less money, and it has the good old fashioned knob technology that lets you see where it's set and tweak it on the fly...the 500 costs a lot more, and it's like trying to program your VCR (am I old, or what!) with all the presets..and it doesn't have knobs, so you can't just reach over and tweak it..

..the MPX 100 is just a lot more user friendly in my opinion, especially for live situations, and it costs a lot less for the same quality...I have 2 of them, 1 in my rack and one outboard with my Fender Vibrosonic..

Thanks for the info'. The 500 is a very complicated piece of equiptment, too many settings to go through, and I still have a problem with making it sound the way I want. I have gotten some imput on the Lexicon, recently from John Hughey, but I like things simple, the 100 sounds like something I will look at. Thanks again, if anyone else wants to comment, I would appreciate it....

The MPX-100 (or MPX-110, the newer model) is a lot cheaper than the MPX-500. I've been told that it uses the same chips. It's not at all hard to set up your own bank of presets in it. I find it easy to use, and it sound great.

Bob, thanks for the imput; I will go by the music store tomorrow and check it out. They will let me use it before I buy it. I will let you know what I think about it.

A couple of years ago I bought a MPX 200 by Lexicon. I really like it. It is sort of a cross between the MPX 100 and their higher end units. It appears, however, that they have discontinued the model as I don't see them listed anymore. If you can find one, though, it might be work checking out.
