what's a good power amp

Post by Scott Henderson »

I play several instruments and have come to the realization that I need to go with a power amp and 2x15 set up. I am looking for a single or double rack power amp> Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Jim is right, however, in my opinion there is none BETTER than the Peavey DPC series power amps whether it be DPC 750, 1000 or
1400. Single space light weight and great clean clear power.

World 1.2, made by Stewart Audio, it's one rack space, 420W per channel in stereo mode, weighs 11 lbs.
No complaints here.

Scott,
I've had awful good luck with the Tube Works amps. That's the kind that Herby Wallace uses also. They are "Mosvalve" and simulate tube type amps. A lot of times you can pick one up off e-bay quite reasonable.

They are very heavy, expensive and hard to find but to my ear there is nothing even close to the
VHT 2/90/2. The power amp does make a major difference in the tone and response of your rig. Its like comparing cheap floresent lighting to sunlight.

I have used the Peavey DPC750 for about 7 years - along with a profexII and two x Nashville E115 cabinets -- a real killer sound and a light weight rig !! and more power than you will ever need believe me.

I use a Mesa Boogie Fifty-Fifty and I'm very happy with it. It is pretty heavy, though.
