Difference in a Nashville 400 and a 1000

Post by Rick McDuffie »

How do these amps SOUND different? I'm not talking about technical specificatons. I'm playing a 1000, but am attracted to the size of a 400, and wondering if I would like it just as much.

Rick, I have both of these amps and like them both.

The 400 is smaller but weights about 4# more than the 1000.

The amps have the same pre-amp circuitry but different power amps. The 400 is analog and the 1000 is digital.

The 1000 with it's digital power amp is much cleaner sounding (if you like that).

I play with no effects and can get what I want from either amp. If you find a 400 you like, be sure it has the Peavey mod or it will sound very middy to you.

Let me know if I can help you make your decision.

Thanks, Bill. That's helpful. I'm a Peavey dealer, but I (re)started playing steel after the 400 was out of production... so I've never owned one.
