New Evans SE200 with Deltalite Review

Post by Bruce W Heffner »

As a user and a dealer of Evans Amps for 10 years I must state that the new SE 200 with the Emminence Deltalite speaker is the best Evans yet. Evans has made many improvements and modifications to the SE 200 over the last few years, different speakers, cabinet size and porting, digital reverb and the HV preamp configuration. Everyone sounded good to me; however, the new model is incredible.

The best way to describe the new Evans is to state that it is as close to a Fender Twin with JBL's as it gets, yet it still has it's own identity and it weighs about half of the old Fender set up, weighing in at 44 pounds.

Is the speaker that comes in the SE-200 4ohms or 8ohms?

It is listed as an 8 ohm speaker.

I wonder if the new SE200 amplifier is rated at 200 watts at 8 ohms or is it rated 200 watts at 4 ohms ???..If it were rated 200 watts at a 4 ohm load, you wouldn't hurt the amp, but wouldn't you loose power by putting in an 8 ohm speaker ?..Jim

Forgive my ignorance, but is this a tube amp?

James, I am checking with Evans on the ohm/watt rating; however, I can assure you that this amp has more clean usable power than anyone can use, unless they want to go deaf.

Dave, it is solid state.

Davied, it's not a tube amp but it does have a good tone to it. I bought one with the Fane spkr. It sounds great. Another great feature about the amp is the headphone jk. I'm so glad they incorporated that into the amp. It's misery trying to tune at the same time that other musicians are.
